There is a whole world of Cuban music beyond just the Buena Vista Social Club and Cuba’s many celebrated salsa bands. Below I’ve listed some of my favorite signers in one of my favorite genres of Cuban music—nueva trova, which is a mix of folk and lyric-heavy rock that does not shy away from social or political commentary.
